I'm sorry that I haven't put out many blogs the past several months, but we travel with our laptop and I'm not crazy about using it. Anyway, we have had a great time down here despite a broken ankle and several other mishaps and plan to keep coming here each winter until we can't travel anymore. The Palm Springs area is always interesting and you can do as much as you want or nothing at all and just enjoy the pleasant weather.
Above is a picture of (left to right) Steve, Bill Crockett and brother-in-law Danny in their "hair hats". These silly hats have fake hair on top and look like they all have spiked hair. Steve and Bill could use the hair while Danny still has a full head. We thought it was funny. Bill and Candy came to visit for a week and we had a marathon of playing Mexican Train Dominoes. Of course we went to the casino a time or two and had dinner and visiting on our patio. This season has passed quickly for us but we are both feeling a little homesick and are ready to talk about heading home.
This is a picture of the gold finches on our patio feeders. We will see these little creatures at home in the spring once they migrate north from here. Since we are both missing home, we plan to head home sometime mid March. Before then, we will attend the Indian Wells tennis tournament which is a huge event here. Steve bought tickets for my birthday, March 12th. I can't think of anything I'd rather do, so we plan to spend the entire day there observing the top players in the world.
My ankle continues to improve even though I still experience some discomfort and slight swelling in the evening. I'm beginning to realize that this is a long term injury and am vigilante with every move. We've been playing Bingo at the clubhouse on Wednesdays and I am happy to report that Steve and I have won 3 times in the past week. It is fun and seems to help with aging hand-eye coordination. Steve's sister has been going with us but hasn't been lucky yet.
